Summer is in full swing and we want you to make the best of it! With our current situation, many of us have postponed travelling, and are staying close to home. Fortunately, there’s some very cool things happening in Calgary, and we’ve compiled a list of must- enjoy YYC experiences to make the most of this summer season.
Note: Some of these experiences are happening soon, and some are ongoing! If any of these interests you, make sure to set a date, reserve ahead when possible, and lastly, ENJOY!

1. Build your own picnic with River Café!
Did you know that River Café has a Picnic Garden? Enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, while dining in a safe distance from others. Customize your picnic from an extensive menu that ranges from sandwiches, charcuterie, and baked goods. Bonus- you can quench your thirst from a list of wines and beer!
Where: River Cafe When: Available Tuesday through Sunday- and all orders placed the day before by 11:30 PM!

2. Downhill Karting at WinSport
Sometimes we just need a break from our routine and get a little adventurous! Try something new and try Downhill Karting located at WinSport. 50 twists and turns over 1800 m of track, you'll be sure to have a fun time!
When: Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

3. Dome Dining With Bow Valley Ranche El Fresco
If you are open to a special dining experience, you’ll love the unique feature of dining in a dome and being served a themed 4-course dinner. We think it sounds amazing, so we had to include it in this list!
Each dome, or garden globe, fits up to six guests. Depending on the date you choose, you may enjoy a France themed dinner until August 3rd, Mediterranean for the month of August, or the Alice in Wonderland theme in October!
When: Until Sunday, August 3rd (France), Aug 5 to Aug 30 (Mediterranean), October 1 to November 1 (Alice in Wonderland)

4. Music in the Park
Summer should be full of music, so we won’t be missing out on this experience! Enjoy musical performances Wednesday nights at the Heritage Park. Acts change, so make sure to take a look on their site to look for the performances that interest you, and reserve for free tickets! All you need to do is bring a blanket or lawn chair, and if you’re feeling hungry, grab something from the barbeque tent, Vulcan Ice Cream Parlour and Candy Store.

5. Block Party - Art on The Boulevard
Block Party - Art on The Boulevard is an art installation that showcases a 200 ft roadway mural located at Deerfoot City. Created by local artists, it is an aesthetic spot to take photos, and enjoy the vibrancy of the colours while enjoying a milkshake from Regrub and shopping in the plaza. We absolutely love this addition to the city and will be making our way down to enjoy often!

6. The DRIVE-IN at Spark
Have you ever wanted to enjoy a Drive-In movie? Well here’s your chance!
Starting on August 5, Drive-In movies will be brought to you by B!G ART and Spark.
Grab your essentials like snacks, and your favourite movie crew and enjoy movies in the safety and comfort of your own car. We are so excited to see how B!G ART and Spark will combine the feel of a classic drive-in and the modern, using technology such as the giant LED screen, concert lighting and special effects for unforgettable movie experience!
